Enthalpy has developed an extensive suite of project management systems and procedures for owners.

Each document has been tailored firstly into a generic proforma, and then presented so it can be readily adopted to suit clients' individual projects or to complement existing systems.

Supporting these systems and procedural data is software covering risk analysis, cost control and reporting, and document control.

Unique intellectual property

Enthalpy has developed a unique approach to its intellectual property over the past decade. This unique approach, linked to a continuous program of investment, has yielded several key developments.

The first is a body of knowledge made up of intellectual property modules. Each module is a discreet subject, capable of being aggregated into stand-alone documents or used for evaluation and analysis exercises.

Secondly, Enthalpy has generated project management procedures able to be readily transferred to owners' or task teams.

Thirdly, all of Enthalpy's systems are capable of immediate adoption by project groups.

And finally, Enthalpy's experience has resulted in benchmarks being developed of primary and secondary project and commercial criteria for major projects, studies and services.

Since 1988, Enthalpy's policy has been to ensure the experience gained on projects is continually reflected in the intellectual property modules. This process has ensured a continuing trend of improved expertise that can be drawn on by Enthalpy's staff and clients.

Enthalpy makes this valuable resource available to all staff and clients at no cost.

Proven process

An example of the unique approach taken by Enthalpy is best demonstrated by the way the organisation prepares major EPCM contracts and the processes leading to award, either by tendering or negotiation.

During the process, Enthalpy is able to draw on its intellectual property modules to cover every step and to provide the individual standard document platforms to facilitate the work.

As a starting point, Enthalpy's contracting strategy guidelines are available to assist owners to decide on the most appropriate method and form of contracting.

Then, before proceeding to drafting of documents, Enthalpy's basis of contract is used to ensure the reasons behind each potential contract provision or term is fully appreciated. This then allows Enthalpy's standard term sheet to be adjusted and issued to the owner and other parties for review.

After the basis and terms of contract are settled, drafting of detailed documentation can proceed with the assurance that the structures are sound and agreed.

Enthalpy's EPCM contract manual contains more than 50 individual intellectual property modules, able to be selected and collated into a consistent contract. This makes creating a detailed ITB, agreement, contract conditions and exhibits simpler.

Like all of Enthalpy's work, all these processes are able to be time-managed within a standard contracts formation schedule - again available as a standard Enthalpy module - ensuring milestone dates are achieved during the process.
